Chief Education Officer (CEO) Bans Govt Teachers from Private Tuitions In South Kashmir

The Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Anantnag has issued a circular banning government teachers, including Lecturers, Masters, and Teachers, from providing private tuition or working at private coaching centers. This directive aligns with the Jammu & Kashmir Employees Service Conduct Rules, 1971, and earlier guidelines from the School Education Department.

Focus on Compliance and Accountability

Heads of Institutions (HOIs) and Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) have been instructed to certify that none of the teaching staff under their supervision is engaged in unauthorized private tuition. Violators will face strict disciplinary action.

To ensure compliance, Zonal Level Monitoring Committees have been formed to monitor and report violations. These measures were outlined in a formal directive (No. CEO/A/Estt-II/58761-75/24) issued on December 12, 2024.

Strict Monitoring and Consequences

The circular mandates immediate reporting of non-compliance and urges strict enforcement by Principals, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), and Headmasters. Any breach of the rules will attract disciplinary measures under existing government regulations.

Official Communication

The directive has been shared with key stakeholders, including:

  • Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag
  • Director of School Education, Kashmir
  • All Principals, ZEOs, and Headmasters

This move underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing education quality in government schools by preventing teachers from diverting their focus to private coaching.
