Transition to DGP Role
Following the retirement of the current Director General of Police (DGP), R.R. Swain, on September 30, 2024, Nalin Prabhat will assume the role of DGP, Jammu and Kashmir, starting from October 1, 2024.
Background
Before this appointment, Nalin Prabhat served as the Director General of the National Security Guard (NSG), a position from which his tenure was curtailed to facilitate this inter-cadre deputation to the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre.
He has extensive experience in law enforcement, having previously held significant roles within the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), particularly in operations related to Jammu and Kashmir.
This strategic appointment reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance security and governance in the region.
