Budget 2024-25: Home Ministry Gets Rs 2.19 Lakh Crore, Major Chunk for CRPF, BSF, CISF – Details Here

The Union Budget 2024-25 has allocated Rs 2,19,643.31 crore to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The majority of this amount, Rs 1,43,275.90 crore, has been designated for central police forces such as the CRPF, BSF, and CISF, which are responsible for internal security, border guarding, and security of vital installations

This allocation is an increase from the interim budget 2024-25, which had allocated Rs 2,02,868.70 crore to the home ministry. 

Allocation for Central Police Forces

Among the central police forces, the CRPF has been allocated Rs 31,543.20 crore, the BSF has been allocated Rs 25,472.44 crore, the CISF has been allocated Rs 14,331.89 crore, the ITBP has been allocated Rs 8,634.21 crore, the SSB has been allocated Rs 8,881.81 crore, and the Assam Rifles has been allocated Rs 7,428.33 crore. 


These forces play crucial roles in maintaining internal security, border guarding, and counter-terrorism operations in various parts of the country.

Allocation for Union Territories

The budget has also allocated funds to various Union Territories. Jammu and Kashmir, which is currently under the direct control of the central government, has been allocated Rs 42,277.74 crore. Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been allocated Rs 5,985.82 crore, Chandigarh has been allocated Rs 5,862.62 crore, Ladakh has been allocated Rs 5,958 crore, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu have been allocated Rs 2,648.97 crore, and Lakshadweep has been allocated Rs 1,490.10 crore. 

Other Allocations

The budget has allocated Rs 1,309.46 crore for work related to the census and Rs 1,606.95 crore to the National Disaster Response Force. 


Additionally, funds have been allocated for various central sector projects and schemes sponsored by the home ministry, security-related expenditure, and the Vibrant Villages Programme.
