DSEK Initiates Urgent Review of Private School Recognition in Kashmir

The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has initiated a process to review the recognition status of private schools across the Kashmir division.

On Friday, December 13, 2024, DSEK issued a directive to all Chief Education Officers (CEOs) in the region, requiring them to provide detailed information about the private schools under their jurisdiction within a day. The directive emphasizes the urgency of the matter, stating that the information must be submitted “today” without delay.

Key Details Sought:

  • School Identification: Name and location of the schools.
  • Operational Levels: The highest class offered (8th, 10th, or 12th).
  • Recognition Status: Whether the school is recognized, if the recognition is still valid, and the expiration date.
  • Unrecognized Schools: Reasons for operating without valid recognition.

CEOs have also been instructed to ensure the data is submitted in soft copy format via email to the Directorate for streamlined processing. This move appears aimed at ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and addressing any lapses in recognition among private educational institutions.
