In a significant development, the government has officially confirmed the regularization of Rehbar-e-Khel (ReK) teachers after they complete seven years of service. This decision brings relief to thousands of ReK teachers who have been waiting for job security and career stability.
In a written reply to a question tabled by Choudhary Mohammad Akram in the Assembly, the government stated that the Rehbar-e-Khel policy, issued vide Government Order No. 141-Edu(YSS) of 2017 dated 27.10.2017, provides for regularization in a staggered manner after seven years of continuous service against available posts of Physical Education Teachers.
The Rehbar-e-Khel scheme was introduced to promote sports activities in schools by engaging local youth as physical education instructors. However, since its inception, the teachers appointed under this scheme had been working on a contractual basis with limited benefits.
With this recent announcement, ReK teachers who have dedicated seven years to the program will now be granted permanent government positions. This move is expected to improve their financial security and enhance the quality of sports education in schools.
Many teachers have welcomed the decision, calling it a long-overdue step toward recognizing their hard work and commitment. The regularization process is expected to begin soon, bringing a new sense of stability to the education sector.
Officials have assured that all necessary formalities will be completed at the earliest to implement the decision effectively.
