The General Administration Department (GAD) of Jammu and Kashmir has issued Government Order which reconstitutes a committee to oversee the appointment of new pilots and extensions of current pilots’ services. This move aims to ensure transparency and efficiency in aviation-related appointments.

Committee Composition:
The newly formed committee comprises the following officials:
- Administrative Secretary, Civil Aviation Department (Chairman)
- Director General (Codes), Finance Department (Member)
- Director Finance, Civil Aviation Department (Member)
- A representative from the General Administration Department (at least of the rank of Additional Secretary) (Member)
- Additional Secretary, Civil Aviation Department (Member)
- Accountable Manager, Civil Aviation Department (Member)
- Administrative Officer, Office of the Civil Aviation Commissioner (Member Secretary)
Terms of Reference:
The committee is tasked with:
- Defining the eligibility requirements and qualifications for pilots and co-pilots, with approval from the Chief Minister.
- Outlining the terms and conditions of appointments, including salary and allowances, in coordination with the Finance Department.
- Advertising vacancies in prominent newspapers, including at least two national publications, to invite applications.
- Establishing a fair and transparent selection process with the Chief Minister’s approval.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving civil aviation operations and ensuring merit-based recruitment in the sector.
