New FASTag Rules from August 1, 2024 – Check Here

Starting August 1, 2024, the new updated FASTag rules will be implemented with the aim of enhancing toll payments and reducing wait times at toll plazas. The new rules, issued by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), emphasize mandatory KYC updates and linking vehicle details with FASTag accounts.

Key Highlights of New FASTag Rules

1. Replacement of Old FASTags

  • FASTags older than 5 years must be replaced by October 31, 2024.

2. Mandatory KYC Updates

  • KYC updates are mandatory for FASTags issued three years ago, to be completed by October 31, 2024.
  • Companies providing FASTag services must ensure KYC is updated for all FASTags issued between three and five years ago.

3. Linking Vehicle Details

  • Vehicle owners must link their registration number and chassis number with their FASTag.
  • For new vehicles, the registration number must be updated within 90 days of purchase.

Steps to Comply with the New Rules

To comply with the new FASTag rules, you should take the following steps:

1. Complete KYC Update

  • Make sure that your FASTag KYC is updated by the October 31 deadline. This involves submitting necessary identification documents to your FASTag service provider.

2. Replacement of Old FASTags

  • If your FASTag is over five years old, you must replace it before the deadline.

3. Link Vehicle Details

  • Ensure your vehicle’s registration number and chassis number are correctly linked to your FASTag account.

4. Verify Information with Provider

  • Verify that your FASTag provider has the correct information in their database.

5. Upload Vehicle Photos

  • Upload clear photos of your vehicle’s front and side as required.

6. Update Mobile Number

  • Ensure your FASTag is linked to your current mobile number for seamless communication and updates.

These steps will help ensure compliance with the new FASTag rules and avoid any disruptions in toll payments or FASTag usage.
