Reliance Jio vs Airtel: Which telecom company offers cheapest unlimited plans after price hike

Reliance Jio has recently introduced three new “True Unlimited Upgrade” plans, aimed at providing users with more affordable access to unlimited 5G data. These booster packs are priced at Rs 51, Rs 101, and Rs 151 and can be added to existing plans, allowing more customers to enjoy unlimited 5G services. The new plans eliminate the previous restriction that only plans with 2GB of daily data or more were eligible for unlimited 5G, thus broadening access to high-speed data for users with 1GB/day and 1.5GB/day plans.

Details of Jio’s Cheapest Unlimited 5G Plans:

Rs 51 Plan:

    • Includes 3GB of 4G data along with unlimited 5G, provided the user has a 5G-compatible device and is in an area covered by Jio True 5G services.
    • This plan is designed for users with lower data needs and offers a budget-friendly option for accessing unlimited 5G services

Rs 101 Plan:

      • Offers 6GB of 4G data plus unlimited 5G, catering to users with moderate data requirements.
      • This plan provides a balance between data allocation and cost-effectiveness, making it suitable for a wider range of users

Rs 151 Plan:

    • Provides 9GB of 4G data and unlimited 5G, catering to users with higher data consumption needs.
    • This plan offers a larger data allocation while still maintaining the benefit of unlimited 5G access

Impact of Price Hike on Jio’s Plans:

  • The recent tariff hike on July 3, 2024, led to changes in Jio’s “Jio Welcome Offer,” where the threshold for accessing unlimited 5G data was raised. Previously, any plan of Rs 239 or above eligible for unlimited 5G, but now only plans with 2GB of daily data or more are eligible.
  • The new booster packs bridge this gap, allowing users with 1GB/day and 1.5GB/day plans to upgrade to unlimited 5G, broadening access to high-speed data

Airtel’s Cheapest Unlimited 5G Data Plans

Following the recent price hike, Bharti Airtel has raised the entry barrier for accessing unlimited 5G data services. Airtel customers must now choose higher-priced plans to access unlimited 5G data, similar to Jio’s updated policy, which also requires plans with 2GB/day or more to qualify for unlimited 5G data.

Details of Airtel’s Plans:

  • Airtel’s Rs 409 plan, with a 28-day validity, includes 2.5GB/day, unlimited voice calling, and 100 SMS/day, along with access to unlimited 5G data. However, Airtel does not currently offer any unlimited 5G upgrade add-ons, unlike Jio’s true unlimited upgrade plans.

Jio versus Airtel: Cheapest plan with unlimited 5G

Based on the recent price hikes, Reliance Jio’s new booster packs, including the Rs 51, Rs 101, and Rs 151 true unlimited upgrade plans, provide a more budget-friendly option compared to Bharti Airtel for customers seeking affordable unlimited 5G plans. Jio’s introduction of these plans helps maintain its competitive edge by offering flexible and cost-effective solutions for users aiming to benefit from unlimited 5G services.

On the other hand, Airtel’s cheapest plan with unlimited 5G starts at Rs 409 for 28 days, offering 2.5GB/day, but currently lacks the same range of affordable upgrade options as Jio, making Jio the more attractive choice for budget-conscious consumers looking for unlimited 5G data.
