Jammu and Kashmir Government Increases Dearness Allowance for Employees and Pensioners
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has announced an increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and pensioners who continue to draw their pay or pension as per the 6th Pay Commission. The revised DA rate will be effective from July 1, 2024.
According to the official orders issued by the Finance Department, the DA has been raised from 239% to 246% of the basic pay for employees and basic pension for pensioners.
Key Points of the DA Revision:
1. Effective Date: The increased DA rate will be applicable from July 1, 2024.
2. Payment of Arrears: The arrears from July 2024 to February 2025 will be paid in cash in March 2025 and will form part of the salary or pension from March 2025 onwards.
3. Rounding Off Rule: Any DA amount involving fractions of 50 paisa or more will be rounded off to the next higher rupee, while fractions below 50 paisa will be ignored.
The orders were issued under the authority of Santosh D. Vaidya, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government, Finance Department. The decision follows the approval of the Council of Ministers (Decision No. 026/03/2025 dated February 24, 2025).
This increase in DA aims to provide financial relief to government employees and pensioners amid rising inflation, ensuring they receive fair compensation in alignment with the cost of living.
