Finally, Jio and Airtel 5G Now Available: How to Check If Your Smartphone Has 5G Support?

Top telecom companies in India, which includes Reliance Industries Limited’s Jio and Bharti Airtel, have started rolling out 5G services in India. Both Reliance Jio and Airtel have already launched their 5G services in some parts of the country. Airtel 5G is available in 8 cities including Delhi, Varanasi, Nagpur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, and Siliguri. And yesterday Jio has aiso starts its 5G service in 4 cities including Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, and Varanasi .

However, not all smartphones can support Airtel or Jio 5G. People with a 2G, 3G, or 4G smartphone right now will not be able to enjoy high-speed 5G service. So, is your smartphone compatible with 5G? Not sure? There is a way to check whether your current smartphone supports 5G.

How to check if your phone supports 5G

  • Open the Settings app on your smartphone
  • Head to Connections
  • Then tap on Mobile Networks
  • Here tap on Network mode
  • If you see the option — 2G/3G/4G/5G (auto connect) — then your phone supports 5G.
  • If your phone has a 2G/3G/4G option only, then it does not support 5G

Now, if you are looking to enable 5G services on your phone, simply choose the 2G/3G/4G/5G (auto connect) in the network settings and you are all set. Once the network is available, the phone will automatically connect to the 5G network.
