Kashmir: Heavy Rains Trigger Flashfloods- Check Here

Apr 28 : Flashfloods and landslides wreaked havoc in Budgam following heavy rains for the last three days, disrupting normal life in this central Kashmir district.

The locals of the Chattabugh told the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that heavy overnight rains in the valley triggered flashfloods in their village with a significant volume of water entering houses and shops.

“There were flashfloods which destroyed many shops and caused loss to some poor people who are living in teen sheds,” they said.

Several roads in the area were submerged and resembled rivers due to the heavy downpour.

While some areas in the Chadoora subdivision witnessed landslides, there was no significant damage reported.

The locals said that a section of road at the Chrawni crossing on the Charwani to Charar-i- Sharief route was damaged due to landslides. “A landslip also occurred at Watakuloo, blocking the Watakuloo to Banjar Charar-i-Sharief road,” they said—(KNO)
