Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a high-level committee to examine issues related to the regularization of casual, seasonal laborers, and other workers in the Union Territory.
As per Government Order, issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), the committee will be headed by the Chief Secretary as the Chairman, along with several key officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister and Administrative Secretaries from various departments.
The committee’s mandate includes evaluating humanitarian, legal, and financial aspects concerning the regularization of these workers. It is tasked with developing a comprehensive plan to address their issues and will submit a report within six months.
The committee is empowered to induct additional members if required. The General Administration Department will provide administrative support for its functioning.
This step reflects the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of thousands of temporary workers seeking job security and better employment conditions in Jammu and Kashmir.
