J&K | Provide Ration Cards to e-Shram Registrants As per SC Directions: Chief Secretary
Supreme Court Directive
The Supreme Court of India, in its order dated April 20, 2023, mandated that State and Union Territory governments must issue ration cards to those who registered on the e-Shram portal but have not yet received them. This directive emphasizes the need for wide publicity and proactive outreach to ensure that eligible registrants are informed and can apply for their ration cards.
Action Plan
During the meeting, Chief Secretary Dulloo highlighted the importance of implementing the Supreme Court’s order effectively. He instructed the concerned officials to:
- Publicize the initiative widely to reach all eligible e-Shram registrants.
- Coordinate efforts between the Labour Department and the FCS&CA to streamline the issuance process.
- Supervise the implementation at the district level, ensuring that Deputy Commissioners oversee the efforts to assist registrants in obtaining their ration cards.
Monitoring Progress
Dulloo also emphasized the need for daily monitoring of the progress in issuing ration cards to ensure compliance with the Supreme Court’s directives. This includes regular updates from administrative heads on the status of applications and the effectiveness of outreach efforts.
